
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited India on 23.05.2026 to discuss US-India cooperation.
New Delhi, May 23, 2026 — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday, with both sides reviewing progress in the India–U.S. partnership and discussing major regional and global developments, including the situation in West Asia.
According to an official statement issued by the Indian government, Rubio briefed Modi on the “sustained progress” in bilateral cooperation across key sectors such as defence, strategic technologies, trade and investment, energy security, connectivity, education, and people-to-people ties.
The meeting underscored the growing strategic alignment between India and the United States as the two countries continue to deepen collaboration in critical and emerging technologies, defence partnerships, and economic engagement.

Rubio also shared the U.S. perspective on a range of international and regional issues, with particular focus on ongoing tensions and instability in West Asia.
During the discussions, Modi reiterated India’s long-standing position in support of diplomacy and peaceful conflict resolution. The Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s “consistent support for peace efforts” and emphasized that conflicts should be resolved through dialogue and diplomatic engagement.
The conversation comes amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty across several regions, with India increasingly positioning itself as a voice advocating de-escalation and negotiated settlements in international conflicts.
Modi also conveyed warm greetings to U.S. President Donald Trump through Rubio and expressed his desire for continued exchanges with the American leader.
The meeting reflects the continuing momentum in India–U.S. relations, which have expanded significantly in recent years across defence, technology, energy, and Indo-Pacific cooperation.
