Elbit Systems’ FUSE acquires Blue White Robotics Ltd.: HAIFA, Israel — In a move that highlights the defense industry’s rapid pivot toward AI-driven warfare, defense tech giant Elbit Systems Ltd. announced today that its autonomous combat systems subsidiary, FUSE, has acquired 100% of the shares of Tel Aviv-based Blue White Robotics Ltd. (Bluewhite).
While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the transaction represents a major Consolidation in the tactical robotics space. By absorbing Bluewhite, Elbit Systems is aggressively expanding its ground autonomy portfolio, effectively bridging the gap between its existing aerial drone swarms and ruggedized, driverless land operations.
From Tractors to Tactical Fleets: The Dual-Use Advantage
Founded in 2017 by Ben Alfi, Yair Shahar, and Aviram Shmueli, Bluewhite initially turned heads by tackling a distinctly civilian problem: labor shortages in agriculture. The company developed a highly regarded, “OEM-agnostic” platform that could retrofit virtually any existing tractor or off-road vehicle into an autonomous workhorse.
However, the core technology under the hood always carried profound implications for defense and homeland security. Bluewhite’s proprietary ecosystem relies on two primary pillars:
- Pathfinder: A hardware-and-software autonomy kit that converts conventional wheeled or tracked vehicles into fully autonomous platforms capable of navigating rugged, GPS-denied, or unpredictable off-road terrain.
- Compass: A cloud-based fleet operations platform that allows a single remote operator to manage, coordinate, and orchestrate an entire swarm of intelligent vehicles simultaneously.
Crucially for Elbit, Bluewhite does not just bring blueprints to the table; it brings a highly mature technology stack. The platform boasts over 100,000 cumulative autonomous operating hours across both agricultural and military testbeds. Experts place Bluewhite’s technology at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 8 to 9, meaning the system is fully proven, operational, and ready for immediate scaled deployment.
The Strategic Play: Multi-Domain Mastery
For FUSE—the Elbit unit formerly known as Flying Production that specializes in AI-driven unmanned combat systems—the acquisition completes a critical puzzle piece. While FUSE is highly regarded for its unmanned aerial systems (UAS), such as the THOR quadcopter recently partnered for delivery to the U.S. Army, modern combat demands seamless interoperability between domains.
Integrating Bluewhite’s off-road ground autonomy allows FUSE to deliver advanced Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) solutions. In a future conflict scenario, this means an airborne drone swarm, an indoor reconnaissance robot, and a fleet of heavy, autonomous ground supply or combat vehicles could all be synchronized under a single, unified AI command layer.

“Autonomy and robotics are reshaping how defense forces operate today,” said Eyal Dahan, CEO of FUSE. “The world is changing rapidly, and modern battlefields require vast adoption of robotics capabilities. This step enhances FUSE’s autonomous robotics capabilities, positioning the company to effectively address the growing global demand for scalable, AI-powered autonomy.”

A Surging Market for Robotic Warfare
The acquisition comes during an incredibly active period for Elbit Systems. The parent company, which is valued at roughly $40 billion and traded on both the Nasdaq and Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, recently reported an unprecedented order backlog exceeding $30 billion, fueled in part by a massive $1.4 billion modernization contract for a European ally.
As defense ministries worldwide scramble to modernise their armed forces, the emphasis has shifted heavily away from traditional heavy armor toward survivable, networked, and attritable uncrewed systems.
For Bluewhite’s team, joining forces with a global titan provides the institutional muscle needed to scale their innovations internationally.
“This is a thrilling new chapter for our technology and our amazing team,” stated Ben Alfi, CEO of Bluewhite. “By joining forces with FUSE and Elbit Systems, we gain a unique platform to bring our AI-driven ground autonomy technology to scale across defense, security, and industrial applications. The combination of our proven autonomy expertise and Elbit’s extensive operational experience will accelerate the deployment of intelligent autonomous systems in some of the world’s most demanding environments.”
As military doctrines increasingly prioritize keeping human operators out of harm’s way, the integration of Bluewhite into Elbit’s C4I & Cyber division ensures that the next generation of military fleets won’t just be driven by soldiers—they will be driven by algorithms.
