BWX Technologies Lands $2.6 Billion Naval Nuclear Reactor Deal, Bolstering U.S. Fleet: WASHINGTON D.C. – July 18, 2025 – BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) has announced a significant win, securing contracts valued at approximately $2.6 billion, including future options, to supply critical naval nuclear reactor components for the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. This substantial award underscores BWXT’s pivotal role in maintaining and advancing America’s naval power.
The newly secured contracts primarily focus on providing essential components for the nation’s cutting-edge Virginia and Columbia-class submarines, which represent the future backbone of the U.S. Navy’s undersea warfare capabilities. In addition, the agreement includes the provision of components for certain Ford-class aircraft carriers, ensuring the continued operational readiness of these formidable naval assets.
Production and delivery of these highly specialized products are slated to occur over the next six to eight years. BWXT’s manufacturing facilities across Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, and Virginia will be central to this effort, leveraging their advanced capabilities to produce the intricate components required for naval nuclear reactors. These components are known for their complexity, encompassing large and heavy assemblies, meticulously machined parts, and the highly enriched uranium fuel that powers these vessels.
