Mahindra-Airbus Contract for A320Neo and A321XLR Fuselase Skin: Mahindra Aerostructures Private Limited has been awarded a contract by Airbus to manufacture and supply fuselage skins for the A320 family of aircraft. The agreement deepens the existing industrial relationship between the two companies and expands India’s participation in the global aerospace manufacturing sector.
Under the terms of the agreement, Mahindra Aerostructures will produce fuselage skins for Sections 18 and 19, which cover the rear fuselage and tail sections of the Airbus A320neo and A321XLR aircraft. The manufacturing work will be carried out at the company’s facility in Bengaluru, with the finished components subsequently shipped to Airbus’ manufacturing site in Augsburg, Germany.
The production scope covers eight fuselage skins for Section 18 and three for Section 19. This project, combined with a recently finalized roll-forming contract from Airbus, supports Mahindra Aerostructures‘ strategic roadmap to build larger fuselage sections in the coming years.
“This marks another important step in our longstanding relationship with Airbus and further strengthens Mahindra Aerostructures’ role in the global aerospace supply chain,” said Vinod Sahay, President of Mahindra Aerospace, Advanced Technologies and Trucks & Buses. He noted that the manufacture of fuselage skins for the A320 family demands advanced process capabilities and precision at scale, and that investments in specialized technologies will help build critical domestic manufacturing capabilities.

The multi-year industrialisation roadmap will see Mahindra Aerostructures scale up its specialized manufacturing infrastructure, incorporating advanced chemical milling, surface treatment, and stretch-forming production lines. Initial engineering tasks, including tooling design, process updates, and quality qualification, have already started, with the first deliveries scheduled for 2028.

He highlighted that the contract serves as a testament to the country’s precision engineering capabilities, noting that manufacturing complex components locally helps drive the ‘Make in India’ initiative globally.
This new agreement builds upon a growing portfolio of work between the two organizations. Mahindra Aerostructures has previously secured contracts to manufacture and assemble main fuselages for Airbus H125 and H130 helicopters, alongside supplying various components and sub-assemblies for commercial aircraft programs.
Operating from its plant near Bengaluru, Mahindra Aerostructures holds key industry certifications including AS9100D and multiple NADCAP accreditations. The latest contract reinforces the company’s long-term investments in high-tech manufacturing infrastructure and aligns with India’s emergence as an essential hub for international aerospace production.
