India MoD Cuts Red Tape to Accelerate Defence Export
India’s defence exports new rules and SoP: The Ministry of Defence has introduced a comprehensive sweep of reforms aimed at slashing bureaucratic red tape and expanding international market access for domestic hardware manufacturers. Driven by the Department of Defence Production under the guidance of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, these structural updates overhaul the Defence Export Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and the Open General Export Licence (OGEL) framework. The adjustments align directly with national aspirations to transform India into a trusted, globally competitive manufacturing hub under the “Make-in-India” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives, ensuring that local firms can respond with agility to international commercial demands without compromising sovereign security imperatives.
