India Declassifies Joint Doctrines for Cyberspace and Amphibious Operations: NEW DELHI – In a move aimed at enhancing military transparency and cooperation, the declassified versions of the Joint Doctrines for Cyberspace Operations and Amphibious Operations were formally released by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on August 7, 2025. The release took place during a Chiefs of Staff Committee meeting in New Delhi and underscores India’s commitment to making joint war-fighting concepts more visible and accessible to a wider audience.
The Joint Doctrine for Cyberspace Operations outlines a unified approach for the Indian military to defend national cyberspace interests. It provides a framework for integrating offensive and defensive cyber capabilities and for enabling synchronised operations across the three services—Army, Navy, and Air Force. The doctrine emphasizes key principles such as threat-informed planning, building resilience, integrating real-time intelligence, and developing unified cyber capabilities.

The declassification of these documents is part of a broader initiative led by the CDS to develop a series of new doctrines and primers. These documents are being created to cover both contemporary and niche areas of modern warfare, including Military Space Operations, Special Forces Operations, Integrated Logistics, and Multi-Domain Operations. The ultimate goal is to provide all stakeholders and policymakers with a common lexicon and a set of clear guidelines for the effective planning and smooth execution of future joint military operations.
