India’s Adani Defence, Sparton MoU for Anti-Submarine Warfare Technology: New Delhi, India – Adani Defence and Aerospace announced on Sunday a collaboration agreement with Sparton (DeLeon Springs LLC), a subsidiary of Elbit Systems, focused on the indigenisation of advanced anti-submarine warfare (ASW) systems for the Indian market. The partnership aims to localise the assembly of complex electronic systems and advanced ASW solutions, catering to both domestic and international demands.

This collaboration positions Adani Defence and Aerospace as the first private sector entity in India to offer domestically produced sonobuoy solutions. Sonobuoys are critical components in enhancing Undersea Domain Awareness (UDA), enabling the detection, location, and tracking of submarines and other underwater threats. These devices play a vital role in ASW operations and the protection of naval assets.

The partnership will integrate Sparton’s ASW technology with Adani Defence’s expertise in the development, manufacturing, and maintenance of defence systems for the Indian Navy. This synergy seeks to reduce India’s reliance on foreign imports for this crucial naval capability, aligning with the nation’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) and ‘Make in India’ initiatives. Sparton’s existing relationship with the Indian Navy is expected to facilitate Adani Defence in delivering locally manufactured solutions.

Donelly Bohan, President and CEO of Sparton Corporation, an Eblit Group company, said: “Sparton has a long legacy for problem-solving advanced engineering, and manufacturing of America’s best maritime defence solutions. We are proud to partner with Adani Defence & Aerospace to bring our proven anti-submarine warfare (ASW) technologies to India.”

Donelly Bohan further added that the partnership would enable the localisation of assembly, the development of high-technology skills, and the delivery of reliable ASW solutions tailored to the Indian Navy’s specific requirements.
