Egypt Defence Exhibition EDEX 2021: Egypt will hold the second exhibition of the country’s defence and military industry exhibition Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX 2021) in November this year. The four-day event will be organized from November 29 to December 2 at Egypt International Exhibition Center.

The second edition of EDEX was to be hosted in last year, however, the event was postponed due to the outbreak of Covid-19 global pandemic.

The event reflects the Egyptian Armed Forces keenness to host major international gatherings on Egyptian soil in the field of defense and military industries.

EDEX 2021 will be the second major defence expo in the middle-east region which will be held this year. In February this year, Abu Dhabi organized its two defence exhibitions IDEX and NAVDEX while Bahrain decided to postpone its defence event BIDEC 2021 to a future date.

“The expo is an opportunity to exchange expertise between professionals from leading international and local bodies in the field of armament systems and defense and military industries,” the organiser Clarion Events said in a statement sent to Defence Star.

This year’s edition of Egypt Defence Expo is expected to host more than 400 exhibitors from around the world that will showcase the latest defence and military technologies across land, sea and air.

According to an estimate by the organizers, more than 30,000 industry visitors are expected to attend the defence exhibition.

General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production said the country was looking forward to host the international defence industry.

“We expect the expo to grow even more in size and impact than the first overwhelmingly successful edition,” Zaki said.

The Egyptian leader said the Armed Force’s General Command will follow all the precautionary measures during the expo to ensure the safety of all our visitors as our number one priority.

Zaki said the expo would open new horizon of cooperation between Egypt and other countries in the field of military industries.

“EDEX has become an influential international pivot to showcase the latest in military, defense and technological industries in the world,” he added.

Thomas Gaunt, Managing Director of Clarion Defence and Security for the Middle East and Africa region said the EDEX has become a key hub for the biggest players in the defense and armaments industry around the world.

Gaunt said there was a strong demand from companies to participate in the second edition of the expo, which reflected in the confirmations and reservations of the space at the event as it surpassed the demand for space during the first edition.

Gaunt said Clarion Defence and Security, the world’s largest organizer of defence and security events, would apply the maximum safety precautions to ensure the safety and health of all attendees in the midst of the pandemic.

According to the organisers, several top defence companies have confirmed their participation as sponsors of EDEX 2021, including Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, European missile manufacturer MBDA, American defence giant Lockheed Martin, French aviation giant Dassault Aviation and French shipbuilder Naval Group, German high technology and sensor developer Hensoldt, and Esri North Africa, a mapping and analytical software development company.
