Bharat Forge Limited Drone Order: Pune-based Bharat Forge Limited (BFL), through its Aerospace Division, has achieved a major milestone in India’s defence modernisation efforts by securing contracts worth approximately Rs 300 crore under the Government of India’s ongoing Emergency Procurement–VI (EP-VI) framework. The contracts have been awarded to meet urgent operational requirements of the Indian Armed Forces and reflect growing confidence in indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities.
The contracts have been placed primarily for the Indian Army, with certain systems also intended for end use by the Indian Navy. They cover a comprehensive range of domestically developed unmanned systems, including Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms as well as loitering munitions. These platforms are designed to support missions across varied terrains and complex operational environments, addressing evolving battlefield needs.

The unmanned systems contracted under the EP-VI framework include platforms named Omega One, Omega Nine, Bayonet, and Cleaver. Each of these systems has been developed with a focus on rapid deployment, adaptability, and mission-specific customisation. The platforms are designed to meet India’s immediate defence preparedness requirements while ensuring scalability for future induction.
A significant highlight of this achievement came during the Army Day Parade held in Jaipur on January 15, where the Omega One unmanned system was displayed onboard an upgraded BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle. The public showcase served as a validation of Bharat Forge Limited’s engineering, integration, and system-level capabilities in the presence of India’s senior defence leadership. The display underscored the readiness of indigenous unmanned solutions for frontline deployment.

The programmes are backed by expanded domestic manufacturing capacity, enabling the company to meet accelerated delivery timelines without compromising on quality, reliability, or operational performance.
The company’s unmanned systems portfolio continues to evolve rapidly, with increasing integration of advanced autonomy, artificial intelligence, and data-driven decision-making technologies. These enhancements significantly improve mission endurance, targeting precision, survivability, and adaptability in contested and dynamic operational scenarios.
