India’s push toward self-reliance in military hardware has received a significant boost with a landmark agreement in the defence manufacturing sector. Vijayan Trishul Defence Solutions (VTDS), a company holding an official licence from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, for the manufacture and proof-testing of small arms and ammunition, has entered into a strategic technology partnership with Czech Republic-based DEUS Automation.

As part of the agreement, DEUS Automation—a sister company of the prominent STV Group—will transfer cutting-edge manufacturing technology for small-calibre ammunition to India. This collaboration represents one of the first major technology-transfer arrangements of its kind between India and the Czech Republic within this specialised sector, marking a crucial milestone in bilateral industrial cooperation.

The partnership is designed to enable VTDS to establish state-of-the-art production lines that adhere strictly to international quality benchmarks, precision engineering standards, and modern automated production workflows. By bringing foreign technological expertise directly onto domestic soil, the initiative directly supports the central government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) and Make in India frameworks, aiming to reduce import dependencies and secure critical supply chains for the armed forces.

Highlighting the vision behind this international alliance, Sahil Luthra, Founder & Managing Director of VTDS, stated: “This partnership reflects our commitment to bringing cutting-edge global defence technologies to India through trusted international collaborations.”

He further added that working alongside the Czech firm DEUS Automation marks a meaningful step towards building world-class manufacturing capacity while contributing to the nation’s long-term defence preparedness.
