ST Engineering has signed a multi-year engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) agreement with Xiamen Airlines to support the airline’s CFM LEAP-1A engines through their first Performance Restoration Shop Visit (PRSV). The agreement was announced on February 4 by ST Engineering’s Commercial Aerospace business.

The deal represents a significant expansion of the long-standing partnership between the two companies, as Xiamen Airlines continues its fleet modernisation with new-generation aircraft powered by LEAP engines.

Building on a 35-Year Relationship

ST Engineering and Xiamen Airlines have worked together for more than three decades, with their relationship dating back over 35 years. During this period, ST Engineering has supported multiple engine types in Xiamen Airlines’ fleet, including the JT8D, CFM56-3 and CFM56-7B.

The extension of this partnership to include LEAP-1A PRSV services highlights both ST Engineering’s growing engine MRO capabilities and its continued role as a long-term maintenance partner as airlines transition to newer, more advanced engine platforms.

Strategic Importance of PRSV Support

Performance Restoration Shop Visits are a critical milestone in an engine’s lifecycle, aimed at restoring performance and extending on-wing time. For airlines, the choice of MRO provider for PRSV is a strategic decision with long-term operational and financial implications.

By selecting ST Engineering for the first round of PRSVs on its LEAP-1A fleet, Xiamen Airlines is placing confidence in the company’s technical expertise, cost competitiveness, and service quality.
