PTC Industries Secures GTRE Order for Single Crystal Turbine Blades: New Delhi: PTC Industries Limited has achieved a major milestone by receiving an order from the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) for the production of Single Crystal “Ready-to-Fit” Turbine Blades — a critical component for advanced aero-engines.
This marks the first time an Indian private-sector company will handle the complete post-cast operations for Single Crystal Turbine Blades, including precision machining, high-tolerance grinding, and thermal barrier coating. These blades are among the most technologically challenging parts of turbine engines and are key to improving temperature efficiency and fuel economy in modern aircraft engines.
The order represents a significant step toward India’s goal of achieving self-reliance in high-end aerospace manufacturing. By indigenising the production of Single Crystal Blades—a process traditionally controlled by only a few global manufacturers—India moves closer to independence in critical engine technologies for military aircraft and missile systems.

PTC Industries will execute the order using its advanced manufacturing infrastructure in India, supported by the expertise of its UK-based subsidiary. The company is also investing in its Strategic Materials Technology Complex (SMTC), a facility designed to support high-precision manufacturing and research in aerospace-grade materials such as titanium and superalloys.
PTC Industries is already a trusted supplier to leading defence and aerospace organisations including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and DRDO, and also exports precision components to several global aerospace firms. The new order strengthens PTC’s role as a key player in India’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem and highlights its technical capabilities in producing components for high-performance propulsion systems.
In a related development, PTC Industries has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) to establish a joint venture focused on designing, developing, and manufacturing advanced propulsion systems and related technologies. The collaboration aims to develop complete propulsion units, including engines for missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), guided bombs, and loitering munitions.

The joint venture will work on indigenising critical propulsion technologies such as liquid and solid rocket motors, ramjet engines, and miniature turbojet engines—key components for India’s expanding missile and unmanned systems programmes. This initiative aligns with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) vision by reducing dependence on imported propulsion systems and strengthening the domestic defence manufacturing base.
With the ongoing expansion of its SMTC, which will include advanced foundries and precision machining lines, PTC Industries is positioning itself at the forefront of India’s high-technology manufacturing landscape. The facility is set to become a hub for research and production of complex aerospace components, helping shorten supply chains and boost competitiveness in global markets.
Developments like these highlight India’s growing maturity in high-end manufacturing, especially in critical sectors such as propulsion and materials science. PTC Industries’ achievements reflect the country’s increasing technological capability and its ambitions to become a global leader in defence and aerospace innovation.
