New Delhi, December 31, 2025 – The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully carried out a salvo launch of two Pralay missiles in quick succession from the same launcher off the coast of Odisha, marking a key milestone in India’s missile development programme.

The launches took place at around 10:30 a.m. as part of user evaluation trials, according to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Defence. Both missiles followed their intended trajectories and met all mission objectives, with performance validated by tracking sensors deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur. Terminal events were confirmed through telemetry systems installed onboard ships positioned near the designated impact points.

Pralay is an indigenously developed solid-propellant, quasi-ballistic missile, equipped with advanced guidance and navigation systems to ensure high accuracy. The missile is capable of carrying multiple types of warheads and engaging a range of targets, enhancing India’s conventional strike capability.

The missile system has been developed by Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, in collaboration with several DRDO laboratories, including the Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Advanced Systems Laboratory, Armament Research and Development Establishment, and Integrated Test Range, among others. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) served as Development-cum-Production Partners and were responsible for system integration during the trials.
