Goodluck India Begins Commercial Production of Artillery Shells: New Delhi, India – In a major development for India’s defence sector, Goodluck India Limited, through its defence arm Goodluck Defence and Aerospace Ltd, has officially commenced the commercial production of artillery shells at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sikandrabad, Uttar Pradesh. This move is expected to significantly contribute to India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) initiative, strengthening the country’s indigenous defence capabilities.
The Sikandrabad facility, which boasts an initial manufacturing capacity of 150,000 artillery shells per year, will play a crucial role in meeting the growing demands of the Indian military and other allied sectors. The company has also outlined plans to further expand the facility’s capacity in the future, signaling its long-term commitment to India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
This achievement follows a major milestone for Goodluck India, as it recently received a landmark industrial license under the Indian Arms Act, 1959. The license authorizes Goodluck Defence and Aerospace Ltd to produce a full range of medium-calibre artillery shells, including key sizes such as 105mm, 120mm, 125mm, 130mm, and 155mm. This development positions Goodluck India as a key player in India’s defence indigenisation efforts, contributing to the reduction of the country’s dependence on foreign arms suppliers.
The Sikandrabad facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing capabilities that include forging, machining, heat treatment, and coating of steel, stainless steel, special steels, and alloys. These capabilities are designed to meet the complex requirements of the defence and aerospace sectors, further enhancing India’s ability to produce critical defence components domestically.

The partnership underscores India’s growing strength in next-generation aerospace technology and its continued push for self-sufficiency in defence production.
Founded in 1986, Goodluck India Limited has grown into a prominent player in the manufacturing of engineering steel, seamless tubes, structures, and precision components. The company is listed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) since 2015 and has a diverse customer base across multiple sectors, including automotive, infrastructure, energy, and defence.
