Embraer and Mahindra Group plan to establish a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility in India for the C-390 Millennium, contingent on its selection under the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft program.

The move builds on a 2025 strategic cooperation agreement to produce the aircraft in India.

26-ton payload and multi-mission versatility

The C-390 Millennium offers a 26-ton payload, higher speed, and multi-mission flexibility — including troop transport, MEDEVAC, firefighting, and aerial refuelling. Its in-service fleet boasts a mission completion rate above 99 percent.

An Indian MRO facility would provide lifecycle sustainment, structural inspections, avionics support, and heavy maintenance.

India as a Regional Sustainment Hub

Beyond supporting India’s fleet, Embraer is evaluating India as a potential regional MRO hub for other C-390 operators worldwide.

If implemented, the initiative would integrate Indian aerospace firms, including Mahindra Group, deeper into global supply chains — reinforcing India’s ascent as a defense and aviation manufacturing powerhouse.
