UAE’s EDGE Will Supply Missile Boats to Kuwait Navy in AED 9 Billion Contract:  ABU DHABI, UAE – EDGE, one of the world’s leading advanced technology and defence groups, has announced a historic AED 9 billion (USD 2.45 billion) defence contract with the Kuwait Ministry of Defence. This landmark agreement, for the supply of FALAJ3 62-meter missile boats, represents the largest naval shipbuilding export in the region to date and ranks among the highest-value naval export deals globally.

The significant contract will see EDGE, acting as the prime contractor, oversee the entire programme, from the design and construction to trials and delivery of the advanced vessels. The comprehensive deal also includes Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and In-Service Support (ISS), as well as the provision of ammunition, showcasing EDGE’s end-to-end defence capabilities.

Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), EDGE Group’s naval arm and a prominent UAE shipbuilder, has been designated as the build subcontractor for this ambitious project.

Commenting on the agreement, Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO, EDGE, stated, “This agreement with Kuwait is hugely significant both in scale and strategic importance. It deepens long-term defence ties between our nations, brings a proven class of advanced vessels into regional service, and reinforces EDGE’s position as a trusted international partner.”

Al Marar further highlighted the rapid industrial and engineering progress achieved by EDGE, emphasizing its capability to design, build, and deliver complex naval platforms at scale. He added that the programme “marks a clear signal of global confidence in what EDGE can deliver” as the company enters a new phase of export-led growth.

EDGE’s FALAJ 3-class Missile Boat

The FALAJ 3-class missile boat has already demonstrated its capabilities, having been selected by the UAE Navy. The first vessel of this class, ALTAF, was officially commissioned into service in February 2025, validating its performance in regional waters. The 62-meter vessels earmarked for Kuwait are custom-tailored to meet their specific operational requirements, featuring high performance, state-of-the-art combat systems, and enhanced capabilities crucial for littoral defence operations.

This latest contract not only solidifies EDGE’s standing as a reliable partner for comprehensive defence solutions and long-term support but also significantly contributes to the UAE’s strategic objectives concerning defence exports and international industrial collaboration.
