EDGE and Leonardo Forge Strategic JV in Abu Dhabi: ABU DHABI, UAE – In a significant move set to redefine global defence collaboration, EDGE Group, a leading advanced technology and defence entity, and Italian aerospace and defence giant Leonardo have announced their mutual intent to establish a groundbreaking joint venture (JV) in Abu Dhabi. This strategic partnership aims to create a cutting-edge technology hub within the UAE, poised to cater to global markets with a unified and synergistic approach.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) solidifying this intent was formally signed by Faisal Al Bannai, Chairman of EDGE Group, and Roberto Cingolani, CEO and General Manager of Leonardo, during a recent high-level visit to Abu Dhabi. This agreement is seen as the latest crucial step in deepening the collaborative ties between the two industry titans, building on existing synergies and shared visions for technological advancement in defence.

The newly conceived joint venture is anticipated to be a landmark in international defence cooperation, encompassing a broad spectrum of domains and integrating some of the most advanced and sophisticated technologies available. The scope of the JV is extensive, including critical areas such as Naval Command and Control (C2) systems and combat system ballistic missile defence, which are vital for modern naval operations.
Furthermore, the collaboration will extend into counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS), addressing the growing challenge of drone threats. Airborne capabilities for maritime multi-mission aircraft (MMA) are also a key focus, promising enhanced surveillance and operational reach for naval forces.

The JV will also delve into advanced optronics, crucial for intelligence gathering and targeting, as well as sophisticated air defence systems.
