Mahindra Aerostructures-Aernnova $300 million contract for supply of Airbus, Embraer Aircrafts Components: Paris, France – In a significant move poised to reshape global aerospace supply chains, Aernnova Aerospace, SAU, and Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt. Ltd (MASPL) have announced the signing of a multi-year contract valued at approximately $300 million. This landmark agreement solidifies a decade-long partnership, entrusting MASPL with the critical manufacturing of metal sub-assemblies and components for a broad spectrum of Airbus and Embraer aircraft, including the formidable Embraer C390 Millennium military transport.
The substantial contract, revealed in Paris, underscores a deepening commitment between the Spanish aerospace giant and the Indian manufacturing powerhouse. Under the terms of the agreement, MASPL will supply components to several Aernnova facilities across Spain, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Brazil, thereby strengthening Aernnova’s global production capabilities and MASPL’s international footprint.
Ricardo Chocarro, CEO of Aernnova, expressed profound confidence in the expanded collaboration. “This partnership with Mahindra will enable Aernnova to reinforce its supply base to secure production ramp-ups in our factories for all our programs, fulfilling our mission to deliver to our customers,” Chocarro stated. He lauded MASPL’s capabilities, adding, “We have great confidence in MASPL’s expertise and high-end technology capabilities to industrialise the different packages with the support of our technical experts in the different areas of work.”
From the Mahindra Group, Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & MD, highlighted the mutual benefits and future potential. “We are delighted with the confidence Aernnova has reposed on us and are grateful for their support. Arvind Mehra, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Aerostructures, emphasized the historical significance and future prospects of the alliance. “The Aernnova partnership has been of great importance to us since the inception of our business, and it is truly an exciting moment to sign this new contract with them,” Mehra said. He elaborated on the contract’s impact: “This contract builds significantly on our existing relationship with their UK subsidiary and also opens up several opportunities to make in India. Through incremental investment in capability and capacity, we are thrilled to showcase our value proposition across the realms of industrial process maturity, digitalisation, performance and sustainability and contribute to our customers production rate ramp up plans.” This statement highlights the ‘Make in India’ initiative as a key beneficiary of the increased collaboration.
The enduring relationship between the two entities traces back to 2013, when Aernnova played a crucial role in the early stages of MASPL’s facility development in India, offering substantial contributions to facility design, development, and crucial skill assessment and training. The partnership ascended to a new level in 2020 when Aernnova acquired Hamble Aerostructures (UK) from GE, a move that integrated an existing MASPL customer directly into Aernnova’s portfolio, further cementing their operational ties.
This latest multi-year contract is the culmination of extensive engagements where both companies meticulously explored new opportunities and collectively forged a robust collaboration strategy. Both Aernnova and Mahindra Aerostructures have expressed their clear intent to leverage this fortified foundation to progressively expand the scope and scale of their relationship in the years to come, signaling a bright future for this strategic aerospace alliance.
