Indian Navy Gets Indra-Tata Advanced Systems Commission Lanza Naval 3D Air Surveillance Radar: New Delhi, India — Indra, a global leader in aerospace, defence, and mobility engineering, in collaboration with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), has successfully delivered and commissioned the first-ever Lanza Naval 3D Air Surveillance Radar (3D-ASR – Lanza-N) aboard an Indian Navy warship. The advanced radar system, developed through a strategic partnership, marks a significant milestone in the enhancement of India’s naval defence capabilities.
The Lanza-N radar system has been fully integrated into the Indian Navy‘s warship’s onboard systems, following a series of extensive sea trials. During the trials, a variety of naval and aerial platforms were tested, ensuring the radar’s performance across a broad spectrum of radar cross-sections. The seamless integration of the radar system is expected to significantly boost the operational efficiency and defence capabilities of the Indian Navy.

This now provides us with local support to produce systems more efficiently and offer closer service to the client.”
Lanza-N radar system
The Lanza-N radar system, designed to offer long-range detection and tracking of both air and surface targets, will be pivotal in enhancing the Indian Navy’s ability to secure its maritime borders and conduct comprehensive surveillance operations. With the commissioning of this radar, the Indian Navy has taken another significant step towards modernising its fleet with cutting-edge, indigenously produced technology.
This collaboration is a key example of India’s push towards Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) in the defence sector, as well as the growing strategic ties between India and global technology leaders like Indra. The partnership also underscores India’s focus on building a robust domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem to meet its evolving security needs.
As both companies look to the future, they remain committed to advancing defence technologies that will strengthen India’s naval and aerospace capabilities for years to come.
