Elbit Systems Iron Fist APS for US Army’s Bradley Fight Vehicles: Haifa, Israel, January 26, 2026 — Israeli defence electronics major Elbit Systems has secured a $228 million follow-on contract to supply its Iron Fist Active Protection System (APS) for upgrades to the U.S. Army’s Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs).
Elbit Systems said the contract was awarded by General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) and will be executed over a three-year period. The award follows a U.S. government announcement in September 2025 confirming GD-OTS’ order for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle APS, as well as an initial contract awarded to Elbit Systems in May 2024.
Elbit Systems‘ Iron Fist is a hard-kill active protection system designed to improve the survivability of armoured platforms against a wide spectrum of modern battlefield threats. The system provides 360-degree protection against anti-tank rockets and guided missiles, unmanned aerial systems, loitering munitions and kinetic-energy tank ammunition, including armour-piercing fin-stabilised discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds. It is designed to operate effectively in both open terrain and complex urban environments.
Developed as the Israel Defense Forces’ second-generation APS, Iron Fist combines high performance with a compact form factor, featuring low volume, weight and power requirements. These characteristics make it suitable for integration on a wide range of armoured vehicles without significantly impacting mobility or payload.
The follow-on contract marks the third time Iron Fist has been selected by the U.S. Army and adds to its growing international adoption. The system has already been chosen by the Israel Defense Forces as well as by several NATO and allied armies worldwide for integration across multiple fighting platforms.

“Our globally recognised Active Protection System continues to demonstrate its technological edge,” said Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, President and CEO of Elbit Systems. “We are proud of our close and strategic partnership with GD-OTS and the U.S. Army, and of the trust placed in us to deliver systems that enhance survivability and protect the lives of American troops in the field.”
Elbit Systems is a leading global provider of defence electronics and survivability solutions, with its Iron Fist APS increasingly positioned as a key capability for armoured vehicle modernisation programmes.
