Maritime Information Sharing Workshop-2025.
Maritime Information Sharing Workshop 2025: The Information Fusion Centre – Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) is set to host the third Maritime Information Sharing Workshop (MISW 2025) from November 3 to 5, 2025, in Gurugram, India. The workshop’s theme, “Enhancing Real-Time Coordination and Information Sharing Across the Indian Ocean Region,” reflects a concerted effort to bolster maritime security cooperation in the strategically vital Indian Ocean.
MISW 2025 brings together maritime security professionals from 30 countries including members of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), the Djibouti Code of Conduct/Jeddah Amendment (DCoC/JA), and the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). This flagship event advances India’s vision of MAHASAGAR — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.
Since its inception in 2019, MISW has evolved into a premier operational forum to exchange best practices, strengthen interoperability, and build trust-based information sharing, vital to counter piracy, drug trafficking, illegal migration, and other transnational maritime threats.
The event combines thematic sessions with contributions from international organizations such as UNODC and ReCAAP ISC, regional coordination centers, and industry leaders. A key highlight is a high-fidelity tabletop exercise simulating complex maritime threat scenarios, fostering joint contingency planning.
IFC-IOR, inaugurated in 2018 and currently led by Captain Sachin Kumar Singh, coordinates among 15 international Liaison Officers and 57 maritime security constructs to ensure peace, safety, and prosperity in the Indian Ocean.
MISW 2025 reiterates India’s leadership in developing a secure, resilient, and cooperative maritime ecosystem for the Indian Ocean, crucial for global energy flows and trade.
