Thales-IndiGo Sign Strategic Maintenance and Technology Contracts: New Delhi, India – September 18, 2025 – In a landmark move to strengthen its long-term relationship with India’s largest airline, Thales, a global leader in aerospace technologies, has signed two major contracts with IndiGo, India’s biggest carrier. The agreements, which cover both avionics maintenance and cutting-edge flight technology solutions, are set to support IndiGo’s ambitious expansion and operations over the next decade.

The first contract is an 11-year maintenance agreement for IndiGo’s current fleet of 430 Airbus A320 aircraft, along with a future order for over 800 A32X aircraft. This deal includes Thales’s comprehensive ‘Avionics-By-The-Hour’ (ABTH) programme and ‘Repair-By-The-Hour’ (RBTH) programme, ensuring that critical avionics components are always available for timely repairs and minimizing aircraft downtime. These programmes are designed to streamline maintenance processes and improve fleet availability, a key consideration for the fast-growing airline, which operates approximately 650,000 flights annually.

Repairs will be carried out at Thales’s newly inaugurated state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Gurugram, located near Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The facility, equipped with cutting-edge technology and staffed by highly skilled technicians, will manage the increasing demand for avionics services, providing fast, efficient, and safe repairs that meet the highest regulatory and safety standards.

A New Era of Digital Flight Operations

In addition to the maintenance contract, IndiGo has also extended its collaboration with Thales in the area of flight technology. The airline has signed a five-year contract for the use of AvioBook, a paperless Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) solution developed by Thales. The AvioBook system, which has been in use across IndiGo’s fleet for over a year, has already proven to significantly reduce paper consumption and enhance flight operations.

AvioBook Flight is the only EFB solution authorized by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for paperless operations, a step that not only streamlines in-flight management but also supports IndiGo’s environmental sustainability goals. With over 2,000 flights per day, the airline expects this system to reduce paper use significantly, contributing to both operational efficiency and sustainability.
