Tata Electronics and Bharat Electronics Partnership for Semiconductor Sector: Mumbai, India – In a significant move to bolster India’s domestic electronics and semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, Tata Electronics and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement, signed on June 5, 2025, aims to jointly develop indigenous solutions to meet the nation’s growing demand for advanced electronics, aligning with the Indian government’s “Make in India” and self-reliance initiatives.
The formal agreement was signed at Bombay House, the Tata Group‘s headquarters in Mumbai, by Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Electronics, and Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Limited. This collaboration brings together a leading private sector entity in electronics manufacturing and a premier state-owned defense electronics company.
Under the terms of the MoU, the two organizations will explore comprehensive, end-to-end solutions for domestic requirements. The partnership will focus on leveraging Tata Electronics’ capabilities in Semiconductor Fabrication (Fab), Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT), and design services. This is intended to meet the current and future needs of BEL for critical components, including Microcontrollers (MCUs), Systems-on-Chip (SoCs), Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs), and various other processors.

Furthermore, the collaboration will involve a significant exchange of knowledge and best practices. Both companies plan to share resources to develop optimal manufacturing solutions for BEL’s extensive product portfolio, which spans defense and civilian sectors.
Tata Electronics Private Limited, established in 2020 as a greenfield venture of the Tata Group, has rapidly emerged as a key player in the global electronics manufacturing landscape. The company is developing capabilities across the value chain, including Electronics Manufacturing Services, Semiconductor Assembly & Test, a forthcoming Semiconductor Foundry, and Design Services. As a multi-product, multi-technology conglomerate, BEL specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of a wide array of advanced electronic systems.
