Indian Air Force inducts Boeing Chinook multi-mission helicopter

Indian Air Force Chinook: Indian Air Force is getting a big boost to its heavy lift capability with the induction of Boeing Chinook helicopters on March 25 (Monday) at a ceremony in Chandigarh.

Chinook is an advanced multi-mission helicopter that will provide Indian Air Force tremendous strategic airlift capability across the range of combat and humanitarian missions.

Chinook can deliver heavy payloads to high altitudes and is eminently suited for operations in the high Himalayas.

“It (Boeing Chinook) will greatly enhance India’s capabilities across a range of military & HADR missions,” said Indian Air Force.

Boeing Chinook is a heavy lift, tandem rotor helicopter. This unique design helicopter is in service with the armed forces of 19 countries.

Boeing Chinook is a multi-role platform and the heavy lift helicopter is used for the transport of troops and material among other roles. It will greatly enhance Indian Air Force’s HADR capability.

The IAF will be inducting the first unit of Chinook on 25 Mar 19 at Chandigarh.
