COVID-19: Indian Army Issues Fresh Instructions To Battle The Coronavirus

COVID-19 Live Updates & News: The Indian Army on Thursday issued a new set of guidelines to deal with outbreak deadly virus COVID-19 in the country. The new measures entail setting up dedicated isolation centres in each of the army station for its personnel.

“Measures will be taken to identify additional infrastructure for setting up of quarantine and isolation centres in each station for own personnel,” the army said.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has asked the Indian military to extend all possible assistance to deal with the outbreak in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (March 24) ordered a complete lockdown in the country to prevent a community transmission of the virus.

The novel coronavirus has claimed more than 16 lives in India and there are nearly 700 confirmed cases in the country and the deadly virus which was first detected in China late last year has spread to almost all the states in the country.

“Indian Army is prepared to extend its network of hospitals and laboratory facilities to assist civil administration at COVID-19 hotspots,” the army said.

“There is a plan for sidestepping medical personnel from lesser affected areas to augment health experts in severely affected areas if required,” said the Indian Army following a call by defence minister Rajnath Singh to extend all possible support to civil administration to deal with the epidemic.

The Indian Army has also made provisions for additional training of own medical personnel at various hospitals to be better prepared for COVID-19.

The Covid-19 virus which is highly contagious in nature has infected over 5.31 lakh people around the world and claimed more than 24,000 lives.
