Russia opens defence exhibition Army Forum 2020 to show resilience amid Covid pandemic

Russia Defence Exhibition Army Forum 2020: Russian Defenсe Minister Sergei Shoigu Saturday opened one of the world’s largest defence exhibition International Military and Technical Forum, also known as Army-2020, near capital Moscow to showcase the country’s defence capabilities and resilience amid a worldwide pandemic that has killed over 8,00,000 people worldwide.

The country has also simultaneously opened Army international games.

“All words are spoken. I can only do one thing – declare the International Military and Technical Forum Army-2020 and the Army international games – 2020 open, ” Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu said in a ceremony organised at Kubinka near Moscow.

“Representatives of many countries have gathered here today. More than 90 delegations arrived to see the achievements of Russian weapons manufacturers, all that our defence industry can do,” Sergei Shoigu said.

Russia decided to go ahead with the defence exhibition at a time when several other prestigious defence exhibitions such as French Eurosatory and Defence Exhibition Athens (DEFEA) have been cancelled this year.

Egypt has also decided to hold the second edition of its defence exhibition EDEX 2020 in November this year.

Sergei Shoigu thanked everyone who found an opportunity to come to the forum to participate in it, as well as in the International Army Games.

The International Military and Technical Forum Army-2020 is held from 23 to 29 August 2020 on the territory of the congress and exhibition center of the Russian Armed Forces Patriot, the Alabino training ground and Kubinka airfield.

In addition, part of the demonstration shows will be held at the Ashuluk training ground in the Astrakhan region. They will be broadcast at the forum’s venues in Patriot park.
