Modi 2.0 Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visits Siachen Glacier

Indian Army: New Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who succeeded Nirmala Sitharman, visited the world’s highest battlefield Siachen Glacier. He was accompanied by army chief Bipin Rawat. Lt General Ranbir Singh, GOC and In Charge of Northern Command received the defence minister and chief of army staff at Thoise air field.

Rajnath Singh made an aerial reconnaissance of the Siachen Glacier to get acquainted with the expanse of this formidable frozen frontier and landed at one of the forward posts of the Siachen Glacier.

New Defence Minister interacted with troops at the world’s highest battle field.

“After visiting the Siachen Glacier, I have decided that the soldiers will be at the centre of all the policies made during my tenure,” said new defence minister Rajnath Singh in a tweet.

“I am proud of all Army personnel serving in Siachen who are leaving no stone unturned to defend our motherland,” said new defence minister.

These were not only the Jawans and officers, Rajnath Singh, who was home minister in the first Modi cabinet, also applauded the brave parents who send their children to serve in a difficult location like Siachen.

“I am also proud of their parents who have sent their children to serve the Nation by joining the Armed Forces. I will personally send a Thank You note to them,” said Rajnath Singh while addressing the Jawans.

Rajnath Singh, who took charge of defence minister after his predecessor Nirmala Sitharaman was allocated finance portfolio in Modi 2.0 cabinet, assured the troops that the government is fully aware of all operational and administrative requirements for optimal functioning at Siachen Glacier and it will fulfill their requirements on priority basis.

As a mark of solemn tribute to the gallant martyrs, he laid a wreath at the ‘Siachen War Memorial’ in the memory of the brave soldiers who have made supreme sacrifice in the service of Motherland.
